Baia Mare is Mine

OUR AIM

“Baia Mare is mine” has the main aim the communitarian educational intervention regarding the local patrimony such as history and historical remains, culture or nature. This aim supports the solidarity as a value through volunteering by increasing the level of education and acknowledgement of the local inhabitants.

The project aims to engage the community and its young people to be active actors in this project and strengthen the community as a whole.

DIRECTIONS PROPOSED

We propose the following objectives for the project’s time-frame:

  • To prepare and organise at least 16 local communitarian educational actions regarding Baia Mare’s historical patrimony

  • The activities supporting this objective are the creation and organising an exhibition about the lifestyle of the 16th-18th Century Baia Mare through information panels and a 3D scale map as portraits in resources, which to be visited by the locals and serve as a starting learning point, and to organise and facilitate a series of minimum 15 workshops with and for the community where to deepen the acknowledgement of the local patrimony. Both types are destined for all age categories and target mainly the population of Baia Mare.

  • To develop competences of 42 volunteers and 20 local youth for the further integration to the labour market or study continuation

  • In order to achieve this, we propose a series of 3 short-term activities 2 for 3 weeks, respectively 1 for 40 days. During these mobilities, the volunteers will organise for and with the community the activities specified before.

COMMUNITARIAN EDUCATIONAL INTERVENTION

The project’s idea is part of a longer-term strategy of communitarian educational interventions, and it is based on 2 aspects:

  • the city is ours as citizens and it is our responsibility as well towards it, not just of the authorities; we have to get involved, propose and organise activities to maintain the socio-cultural vibe of the community alive;

  • despite the fact that the mines have been closed a while ago here and the mining-extracting industry has collapsed, the city continues to be a “mine” ready to be explored in terms of opportunities based on the local patrimony (social, cultural, touristic, natural, historical, etc.) and human resources.
